If anyone is curious about the concept of the master, and the language structure proposed in Lacan's riotous seminar, there's a good link indexing all the seminars' content here:
http://www.lacan.com/seminars1a.htm
See June 29, 1955 (book II), May 25th, 1955, June 15, 1955. The purloined letter is also iconic, if you're really into it.
The seminars are downloadable from aaarg.
In this class we will discuss the concept of "value" with anthropologist David Graeber, considering political, cultural, and social theories alongside classical economist paradigms. To prepare, we will read two works by Graeber: Toward an Anthropological Theory of Value: The False Coin of Our Own Dreams (2001); and, "The Sadness of Post-Workerism" (2008).
This class will take place September 5, 2010 at 4pm at 177 Livingston St.
Note: We have ordered copies of Toward an Anthropological of Value for on-site reading at 177 Livingston.
Students would learn how to read faster and be more focused while reading Avoid disturctions and retain a lot more than while normal reading.
The class is tought by a spectacular teacher who also talks about reading form kindle and IPad, reading from the sreen and paper.
Reading of fiction and non-fiction material would be discussed.
Student's will learn how to read Animal Farm in one hour!!!
For the curious, here's an Italian critique of The Coming Insurrection, a book written by some associated with Tiqqun, according to the French government. The criticisms of building alternatives in the margins struck me as relevant to some of our debates:

Hi all,
Below are Google doc links to six articles from The Real Perspecta 42 (they will also be posted on AAAARG this evening). Though we will be discussing the issue as a whole, we will focus on these articles to help guide our discussion. Please come prepared with plenty of questions!
Looking forward to a lively discussion,
Matt and Tal
The course would consist of 3 sessions for each student, plus a launch day. The course can accomodate anyone from age 8 and up. There would be a small cost to cover the cost (estimated to be about $10-$20, depending on which rocket kits are used) of a rocket kit or parts, tools, and equipment required. The class would be held in center city Philadelphia, while the launch site would probably be in the suburbs.
The first would be an (optional) design session, for students to design their rocket if building from scratch. Students working with a pre-built kit could skip this session.
The second session would be a build session, where those with pre built kits would build their rockets from kits, and those who had previously designed one could build their design. The first two sessions can be a morning and afternoon of the same day, with a gap before the next to allow glued parts to dry.
I'm afraid I proposed the workshop in LA while it actually will be happening in Brussels!
But ofcourse you are very welcome to come to Brussels :D
Maybe somebody else can teach it in LA?
This is an English translation of Agamben's article "Non au tatouage biopolitique" in Le Monde, 10 January 2004, in which he explains his protest of US customs policy (=his refusal to come to the U.S. as visiting professor at NYU in 2004):
No to Bio-political tattooing

A seminar covering five philosophers over five days. Looking beyond the influential generation of 1960s and '70s French theory, we explore a number of younger voices only now being discovered by the English-speaking world. Our goal is not to set in aspic a new canon for French philosophy, but rather to proceed inductively, tracing some recent experiments and possible futures. Short readings will be circulated for each session. Attend each day or just the days you wish. Free and open to everyone.
